LOVE OTHERS THE WAY JESUS LOVES YOU.
JOHN 13:34-45 AND ACTS 8:26-40
I truly believe amazing things can happen when God’s Spirit is working through you. You can ‘make waves,’ because what you do today can change the world around you!
We can ‘make waves’ and show love in everything we do. Every day, we can show love to other people because we know how much God loves us. 1 John 4:19 says ‘We love because he loved us first.’ (NIrV)
So how do we love others? The best example to look to is always Jesus. He truly shows us how to love. Just before Jesus was arrested and sent to die on the cross, He was spending time with His friends, the disciples.
Jesus took the time to tell His friends exactly what it means to follow Him. He gave them a new command—a new purpose for their lives. And what Jesus said to them is also true for you and me today. It’s the single biggest thing we can do to ‘make waves’ in the world around us!
Jesus said in John 13:34 “Love one another. You must love one another, just as I have loved you.” (John 13:34, NIrV)
When Jesus died on the cross and then came back to life, His friends knew what they had to do. They left Jerusalem and started telling others about Jesus.
Jesus’ words for His friends are so important that they can change the way WE live today. They can change the way we treat people. They can help us ‘make waves’ and truly change the world! It all comes down to this one simple idea: Love others the way Jesus loves you.
Now, the truth is, that’s not always easy. Sometimes it can be hard to show love to people—especially when you might not feel like they deserve it. But we can choose to show love because we have God’s love inside us. When we put our trust in Jesus, God gives us the Holy Spirit to help us. It’s like Jesus said in, John 7:38: “Whoever believes in me... rivers of living water will flow from within them.” (John 7:38, NIV)
See what I mean? The love we show others comes from the love Jesus has shown US. Jesus made waves...and now WE can make waves. We can change the world with His love!
