A Guide to The Lord's Prayer

Jesus said, "when you pray say…"

“Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

Give us day by day our daily bread.

And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us.

And lead us not into temptation;

but deliver us from evil.”

(Luke 11:2-4 KJV)

The Lord’s Prayer is not a prayer to memorize and recite but rather an outline for how to construct prayer in general.

Here is a guide to praying the Lord’s Prayer:

    • Express adoration for the name that is above every name, Jesus

    • Express humility, bowing yourself before His name

    • Express celebration for the glory that Heaven deserves for providing the Cross

2. Thy Kingdom

  • “Thy Kingdom come”

    • Invite Heaven’s King–Jesus–to rule your life.

    • Invite His Kingdom–filled with healing, deliverance, and salvation–to be made manifest in your life.

3. Thy Will

  • “Thy Will be done”

    • Submit to God’s will, agenda, and purpose

    • Submit your dreams and visions to God’s desires for your life

2. Forgive Us

  • “Forgive us our Trespasses, as we forgive Others”

    • Confess any sin that comes to mind – big or small – and seek forgiveness.
