Four Reasons We Must Share Our Faith With Others

On the way home from church, a little girl said, “Mom, I’ve been thinking.” The mother said, “Oh! About what?” The girl replied, “Well, my teacher this morning said God is bigger than we are. Is that true?” “Yes, that’s true,” the mother replied. “He also said that God lives within us. Is that true too?” Again the mother replied, “Yes.” “Well,” said the girl. “If God is bigger than us and He lives in us, shouldn’t He show through us?” (1)

The little girl in this story poses a great question that we should all ask ourselves, “Does God show through me?”

Recent studies have shown that following the Coronavirus outbreak; there has been an exponential increase in the number of people seeking online information about knowing Jesus. People are more hungry and curious than ever because they are more confused than ever. And if there was ever a time when we should let God shine through us and not be timid with sharing our faith, it is now!

Here are four reasons why we should share our faith with others:

1. Jesus came to seek the lost!

Luke 19:10 (NKJV) For the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost

Jesus was constantly seeking the lost and sharing faith with them, so much so that he recieved criticism for spending so much time with so-called lost people.

2. Jesus expects his disciples to follow his example.

Matthew 4:19 (NKJV) Follow Me, and I’ll make you fishers of men.

Jesus constantly shared his faith, expecting his disciples to do the same.

3. Nothing is more VALUABLE than the human soul.

Matthew 16:26 (NLT) And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?

If something was so important to Jesus that he gave his life for it, and if Jesus is important to us, we must make sure the work He cared about is completed. (2)

4. It’s the Great Commission and not the Great Suggestion

Jesus commanded: “Preach the Gospel to every creature!” (Mark 16:15)

We cannot save anyone, but through the sharing of our faith, we can introduce people to the One who can. Because of this, the greatest legacy we will ever leave will be those who live eternally because of our witness.

So, the question now becomes, “Who has lived because of the invitation you offered through sharing your faith?”
